First of all I booked a direct flight with a TECHNICAL Stop in Philadelphia. It was not pointed out clearly to me that we had to switch the gate and plane which makes ist basically a connection and not a direct flight. I am well aware that the termonology "direct" flight is correct as long as the flight number does not change, which it did not, but that is hairsplitting to me. To the customer it matters little if the flight number changes or not, changing the plane and gate is what I expected to avoid by booking a direct flight. A technical stop and continuing afterwards is perfectly ok with me, otherwise I would go for a non-stop flight. Next, the online check-in did not work. Therefore we did not have seats together on the flight from Los Angeles to Philadelphia. The ladies at the check-in did not help us to arrange better seating, rather they told us to talk to the cabin crew. The cabin crew then told us to ask our seat neighbours. Boarding was in 4 groups (not speaking of buisness class, first class, premium members etc.). On each flight we were group 3 and therefore last to board since group 3 and 4 are called together. Why are there additional groups? How can this be influenced by the customer? We felt like the last scum to be greatfully allowed to board the plane. Very, very bad customer service.

There was food only for purchase (appart from small crackers) on the flight from Los Angeles to Philadelphia which was more than 5 hours! Food from Philadelphia to Munich was plenty and good.

The entertainment system on the second flight to Munich was crap. The thouch screen was not responding properly, if it did the delay was huge. Browsing through the range of TV series and movies was horrible. Stopping, reversing etc. while watching was nigh impossible. There was no entertainment system on the flight from Los Angeles to Philadelphia, which was a 5hours+ flight. Very dissapointing.
